Words & Wine – Supporting writers until The End

Start Writing for Beginners

Do you have an idea for a book but haven’t started yet?
Have you always wanted to write one but don’t know where to begin?
Maybe you’re a serial procrastinator and need a kick up the bum.

2026 is the year you write that book – and I’m here to help.

What to expect

The Words & Wine: Start Writing beginners sessions meet monthly for two hours. Each session is focused on getting words on the page and helping you feel confident that you’ll get to The End.

You’ll get:

  • Optional accountability and peer support – share if you want, sit quietly and write if you don’t
  • Space to talk through your idea and what you want from it
  • Simple frameworks to help you make decisions and avoid overthinking
  • Writing prompts and exercises that move you forward

Writing a book – fiction or non-fiction – starts with one thing: words on the page. Before editing, querying, or publishing, you need a first draft. These sessions focus on helping you begin, build a writing habit, and produce material you can work with.

Who it’s for

Everyone. Whether you’re writing your first book, sitting at the very beginning of an idea, or you just want structure, focus, and momentum. Whether you’re a total beginner or a writer who wants to try something new, these sessions are designed to help you start and keep going.

These sessions are the starting point. Writers who want ongoing support can move on to the intermediate Words & Wine sessions, which focus on sustaining momentum and getting projects finished.

Book your place

👉 Thursday 15th January 2026
📍 The Sycamore, 185 West Parade, Lincoln, LN1 1QS 7pm start

As Ernest Hemingway famously said, “Write drunk, edit sober.”
We’re not taking that too literally – but The Sycamore is the perfect place to write. Sometimes the words come more easily when you’re relaxed, fuelled with good pizza, and a glass of wine.

Spaces are limited to keep the sessions focused and supportive.
